Winter Park Colorado part of Grand County is located in northwest area of Colorado.  The town of Winter Park and the surrounding areas are filled with outdoor activities galore, making Winter Park and the Fraser Valley an outdoor enthusiasts paradise!  When you drive over the majestic Berthoud Pass, your vision will be filled by the view of the seemingly endless trees and mountains with views that seem to go on forever. As you drive down into the Fraser Valley you will enter our scenic mountain community  surrounded by the gorgeous peaks of the Continental Divide to the east and Byers Peak to the west.  The list of activities that you encounter when you visit the Winter Park area are just as numerous are the spectacular mountain views. 

Visitors to Grand County are quick to realize the magnificence of their surroundings. Upon entering Winter Park, you are at once engulfed by the Continental Divide to the east and Byers Peak to the west. Visually, the area can be overwhelming. With the beautiful surroundings, it is easy to see why the history behind Grand County can be overlooked. However, what makes Winter Park, "Winter Park" is not only the snow capped peaks and wide open meadows, but the history that made this town along with the surrounding mountain.

Information on the Town of Winter Park

The town of Winter Park is pleasant with bustling retail shops that include ski and snowboard shops, clothing, jewelry, art galleries and gift shops.  Restaurants range from family style, to pub food, Irish, Italian, Chinese, Sushi, Pizza and American.  Lodging accommodations range from private homes, condos, town homes and duplexes to hotels, bed and breakfast lodges.  Winter Park is easy to navigate with one main road and businesses lining the main road. Winter Park Town Amenities

Additional amenities in the town of Winter Park include a Recreation Center complete with indoor lap pool, lazy river and wading pool.  Hot tubs plus a dry and wet sauna are also part of the pool area.  The recreation center also includes a climbing wall, weight room, cardio room, gymnastics gymnasium, basketball court, running track and fitness studio.  This recreation center was completed in 2010 so still in mint condition!

Other attractions in town include a movie theater with a new movie theater and bowling alley called the Foundry. The movie theater and bowling alley are state of the art. Additional services feature dining and beverages that are available while bowling or watching the latest movie.

Winter Park also has a museum (Cozen's Museum actually located in Fraser right next to Winter Park) that shows this history of Winter Park and the Fraser Valley.  Over the past three years, Hideaway Park has been developed.  This park is located downtown, right across the street from the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, and features a concert area and skateboard park in the summer.  During the winter, the town of Winter Park sets up a sledding hill for the kiddos (or adults).  A fire pit warms up  the scene.  A large playground is at the entrance of the park with seating for family picnics or gatherings.

Additional nearby activities include 2 sledding hills, 2 cross country course, a spa, sleigh rides and ice skating.

The local grocery store in located in Fraser a town located right next door to Winter Park.  Fraser is so close to Winter Park that many people think that these two towns are one.  Often the name Winter Park and the Fraser Valley is used to describe this wonderful valley with two towns right next to each other only separated by a large meadow.

Winter time, the season that most visitors associate with Winter Park and believe the main activity to be skiing or snowboarding at our two world class resorts - Winter Park Resort and Solvista Basin, will be surprised at the abundance of our other winter activities.  More fun can be had with dog sled rides/races, ice fishing, ice skating, sledding/tubing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing/snowshoeing (Devil's Thumb Resort, the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch or even on the trails in the Arapahoe National Forest.)  Year round area activities include ballooning, dining, shopping, outdoor outfitters, heritage museums, hot springs and spas, natural attractions, sight seeing, recreation centers (like our new Fraser Valley Recreation Center), sleigh/hay rides, theaters and visiting local wineries/breweries.
